October 21-23, 2016 with check in on October 20th

New York State Fairgrounds, 581 State Fair Boulevard, Syracuse, NY

Back by popular demand, you liked it last year, this year will be twice as good. The Empire Alpaca Association and The New England Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association's have joined together once again to present a new and exciting SHOWTACULAR version 2.   The two shows will run concurrently, in the same venue, same weekend to continue making alpaca show history.  This show format will offer all the same top quality aspects of showing your alpacas with a significant savings to all exhibitors.  This is an opportunity to show at TWO shows in one weekend.  You will need to register your alpacas individually for each show, on each show registration site.  You only need to purchase pens once, (on the Empire Alpaca registration site).  You save money on pens, hotels, meals, farm sitters, and travel by having two shows in one.   Many exciting sponsorship opportunities will be available to support both shows.  We will have: Two sets of judges, a single fleece show, A Meet and Greet featuring Dinosaur Barbecue, a Friday night sit-down dinner and auction, Hospitality Lunch for Show Sponsors, a lunch time seminar and the biggest news is a National Show book to be seen by more than 2700 viewers. 

EAA and NEOBA are looking forward to hosting a Level IV (or better) Halter Show and a Level lll (or better) Fleece Show.



Our Halter Show Superintendent will be Sue Ives,

This show will be judged using the 60/40 comparative judging basis.   Classes will include, Full Fleece, Bred and Owned, Shorn, Championships and Judges' Choice (if minimums met).

Group Classes will be, Get of Sire, Produce of Dam, and Breeders Best Group of Three

Fleece Classes are, Regular, Best Prepared Fleece, Championships (minimums met)

Special Awards: Judges' Choice, Best Hand, Best Brightness-Huacaya, Best Luster-Suri,

Best Crimp-Huacaya, Best Lock Formation-Suri and Spirit of the Fiber Industry.

Cottage Fleece Classes are, Regular and Color Championships. Special Awards: Judges' Choice, Best Hand, Best Brightness-Huacaya, Best Luster-Suri

The all new EAA & NEAOBA Showtacular will once again combine the traditional high-quality halter show, an expanded
Fleece Show, and educational opportunities. Check-in will be on Thursday, October 20th, for all participates in the halter show, fleece show and vendors. The NEAOBA halter show will run Friday October 21st and Saturday, October 22nd.  The Empire halter show will run Saturday, October 22nd and Sunday, October 23rd.  There will be four rings going and 2 sets of judges.  The Fleece Show will run Friday, the 21st and Saturday, the 22nd, concluding on Saturday the 22nd.  Ribbon winners will be announced on Saturday evening, during our Wine Tasting Event, all fleeces to be on display on Sunday, October 23rd.

Halter- Traditional halter show with challenging competition.

Education- Seminars for owners, breeders, and the general public. 

Fiber- The Showtacular Fiber Event, will include a full-fledged fleece show.  Also back this year is the Spin Off, Fiber Arts, and Skein Competition.  The Empire Yarn Project will showcase its 2016 yarns and introduce the Empire Sock made from Empire Alpaca Fiber!  There will be a Fiber Corner with several demonstrations along with a raw fleece sale.

EAA and NEAOBA Marketplace: The Showtacular is offering a great place to showcase and sell your Handmade items this year.  Traditionally called the "Members Booth" The Marketplace will also offer fleeces, yarns, and other handmade items for sale.  Note:  All items coming into the marketplace must be made from a minimum of 50% of fiber from your farm or handmade for your farm.




Friday Night Cash Bar in venue at 4:00 PM prior to the Friday Night Showtacular Dinner and Auction - Come and join us for a relaxing sit-down dinner, cash bar and great camaraderie with your fellow exhibitors, vendors and friends. The Showtacular Dinner will be held on the Fairgrounds, and beginning at approximately 6:00 PM, a trolley will be available to transport you to and from the Dinner Hall.  Special acknowledgement during dinner for our generous Show Sponsors.  All compliments of the Empire Alpaca Association and NEAOBA Boards.


Saturday Night Complimentary Wine and Beer at 4:00 in addition to the Showtacular’s Saturday Night Wine Tasting Social - At the close of the Halter Class rings on Saturday, approximately 5:00 pm, there will be a casual wine tasting.  Fleece Show Judges’ oral reasons.


Sunday - Fleece Show entries will be available for viewing between 10:00 and Noon.  After 12:00, fleeces may be picked up.
