This is one week earlier than our traditional weekend. We are making the change
so that we do not conflict with our friends from Vermont (Green Mountain) and Rhinebeck
(Dutchess County Sheep & Wool Festival). But that's not the biggest change....
The
all-new Empire Alpaca Trifecta will combine the traditional high-quality halter
show you have come to expect from the Extravaganza, an expanded Fleece Show and
Fiber Event, and world-class educational opportunities. Judges for this huge event
will include Amanda VandenBosch, Helen Humphreys, and Wade Gease. Check-in will
be on Friday October 12, with the halter show on Saturday and Sunday, the 13th &
14th. Educational seminars and Fiber Events will be taking place all weekend.
Halter-
Traditional halter show with challenging competition, performance classes for the
young and young at heart - including a few surprises! Rewarding show opportunities
for breeders and owners of farms both large and small, newbies as well as established
farms.
Education- World-class seminars for owners, breeders, veterinarians, and
the general public. Hands-on as well as classroom style seminars.
Fiber- The Empire
Alpaca Fleece and Fiber Event, traditionally offered in February, will be a part
of the 2012 Trifecta. This will include a complete fleece show, spin-off, and fiber
arts competition. Additionally, North American Alpaca Fiber in all of its uses will
be showcased for both breeders and public.
The EAA Board of Directors is hard at
work finalizing details on some new and exciting features of the show. These innovative
additions will be unveiled shortly, so keep checking back for details!
