Breezy Meadows’ Dandelion’s Delight is just that – a true delight. She has one of the very best fleeces on the farm with a strong focus on fineness and consistency. Delight also has a deep rich non fading medium fawn fleece and lots of it!
Her dam is our one and only Aysen’s Dandelion, a light fawn full Chilean foundation girl that is the queen on lingering fineness. She had a 26 micron at the tender age of 13 years old! This dam is also still carrying herself proudly with an excellent display of conformation and typiness. Dandelion has made a number of show offspring that have been awarded several ribbons at a variety of shows. She has also been able to produce a multitude of color ranging from light fawn to bay black. More impressive then that is the fact that she has made 86% FEMALE offspring and better yet – she is a superior mommy that gets loaded up with milk. Dandelion also acts as a wet nurse and has been known to allow up to 3 cria to nurse off her at a time! Yep – have you ever had a bottle baby??? You can imagine – this girl is worth her weight in GOLD!!! These traits have been known to pass on to dam’s female offspring.
Delight’s sire is Lazy’s Phoenix, a Caligula (ACCOYO) grandson who is one of the most recognizable and admired herdsires that was ever imported into the US. Phoenix’s 2005 fiber stats include 14.9 micron with SD of 3.1!! He caught our eye while we were at a show and we were in awe as he took the color championship. We knew at that point – we had to get a breeding to him. He was so macho and shimmered under the spot light. We learned that his show record includes 7 banners and 18+ BLUES. His frame is stunning with large bone and strong square lines. Fleece is everything you would hope it would be - consistent crimp, great fineness, great density, and luster that is blinding. Phoenix has also been able to pass these traits on to his offspring and has been known for improving the fleece and bone – with a strong focus on fineness. He has also achieved a variety of color in his offspring and some show stoppers to boot!
We believe in breeding to with the intent of always making an offspring better than the dam – and starting with some pretty nice foundation females – well that means that we seek out impressive herdsires. Delight is currently bred to the the one and only Beethoven's Dorian for a late September birth. We feel that Delight is bred right and will have a baby that will knock your socks off!
